NEW EARL FURNITURE STYLED BY JULIE VAN DAELE OF WELL RECEIVED

This month we’ll be checking out three female entrepreneur’s homes to sit down on our new sofa with their family and have a chat. We EARLS love human connection and relationship and so we checked in with these three women to get their take on a few of our questions. this series was shot by the talented MICHELLE MOSQUEDA.

Julie Van Daele is a genuine gem of a person. We have had the pleasure of getting to know her, her husband Matt and son Van over the past couple years and have been truly blessed by their friendship. Julie is a talented interior designer who founded Well-Received. We were lucky enough to have her share her take on styling only our bar cart and new Moresby Sofa. She chose naturally finished white oak with ivory linen upholstery along with our white oak and brass bar cart. Check out the images below along with a personal Q & A with Julie herself.

What's one word you would use to describe your family? Monochrome (HA)

What do you believe makes your family unique?

We are normal…I know that sounds funny, but in LA we find that we get that compliment quite a bit. People then begin to elaborate on “normal” and say that we are “down-to-earth” , “approachable”, “genuinely interested in others”. I find that the best compliment and have begun to see that those are traits not everyone possesses.

What most often brings you together as a family?

Our morning routine - Matt and Van make baby-ccinos and cappuccinos and we either hang on the couch or sit outside on the patio

In running your own business, how have you approached managing your work life balance?

I made a promise to myself that family would always come first, before work. I currently set aside two full days that are for work only and then the rest of the time I fit work in when I can. It’s definitely a tough balance, especially as my business continues to grow, but the job of raising what I hope to be an incredible human, is always going to be more important than designing a beautiful home :) So I try to keep that perspective when work really tugs for my attention.

Do you often host visitors or guests and if so what drives you to do so?

We love having people over…everything from an intimate dinner  with friends to a large party. We value our “LA Family” so much and know it’s rare to find incredible community. Any excuse we can think of to see our friends and/or family, we do! We even based our entire home layout around the kitchen, dining and outdoor area :)

Have you faced any challenges as a family lately?

The addition of a little one to our family, was a huge challenge from the beginning. Two surgeries and 4 months of bedrest, and then when he arrived the HUGE adjustment of it not just being Matt and I anymore.
Having a child is a true blessing and GIFT, but it also comes with personal and emotional challenges; of adjusting to a new life that requires a lot of sacrifice, patience and maturity.

This challenge has only made us better, but that first year, especially on me mentally was rough!

Do your personal life and work ever intersect?

Yes all the time…I’ve managed to make friends with a lot of people that also work in the design industry, which makes work not feel like work a lot of the time.

As a family, do you have rituals or traditions?

As we are a “new-ish” family, we are just beginning to create our family traditions but a few we do…

We pray every night at dinner as a family.

All Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary, etc. gifts are a SURPRISE. We never tell and it makes it so much fun and thoughtful.

The Christmas tree purchase, decorating and the entire month of December entails lots of festive cheer that will never be missed in our little family.

THANK YOU STEPHENSONS FOR HAVING US OVER AND STYLING OUR FURNITURE IN YOUR HOME. LOVE SEEING YOUR TAKE ON IT.

How would you describe your home?

Modern, Warm, Inviting

WE COULDN’T AGREE MORE.

WE LOVE YOU MATT + JULIE + VAN ,
